You have to make sure you download the correct version for your upgrade.
If you download Anti-Virus, and try to install it over Internet Security, you will probably get a message saying the product is already installed.
Double check what product you currently have installed before you download the upgrade to 2010, and pick the correct download link.

Yeah, being exile-novice number one, I don't always get it right.
But the Kaspersky window displays "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010" yet goes round in circles on installing it.
Each attempt has it show "Installation failed" with the press OK button, as it goes through the install process, 4 times, in each attempt.
At each "failed install", a small window flashes on-&-off screen in the top left corner, with the relevant info about which piece of software has not been installed, but they disappear too fast to read and make note of, followed by the small "Installation failed" (centre-screen) notice-window and an OK button.
At first I was stumped when it asked for the activation code, then I went back to Kaspersky's 1st email to me on installing the programs I bought on disc from my local seller, found the first activation code and tried it. It worked, but the above travails are the only result.
I have emailed the local seller thrice but they must be very busy, so now I'm running without antivirus protection and on Windows Security Center Firewall.
While I wait for your, or the PC Support (local seller fella) response, I guess I'll uninstall all Kaspersky stuff, and, aware that I might still have dumped the Kaspersky antivirus 2010 software and not the Kaspersky internet security 2010 software, begin the whole process from scratch, and hope that this doesn't invalidate anything.....

If your planning to uninstall Kaspersky and start from scratch, you should make use of the Kaspersky removal tool to be sure your installation wont be corrupted by any previous problems.

Having installed a couple of these for clients now I can make the following report. KIS 2010 on VISTA no problem. KIS 2010 on XP the following has occurred:
- sent one clients CPU into permanent 100% usage.
- Is ok with Outlook but stopped two of my clients receiving any email through Outlook Express.
Need to iron out some bugs yet

Hi. It's great to read this discussion. I'm on XP, so I'm thinking to just wait for the bug fix release. Is there a time limit for the upgrade offer to be taken up on?
I have had a few odd bugs and crashes with KIS 2009, and would prefer to just keep my machine running at the moment.

will KIS 2010 work with Windows 7?
running 1 XP and 2 Vista machines so was also wondering about any time limits for the download...
I don't run any version of Outlook but would still rather wait till bugs are sorted than take a chance and upgrade... had shed loads of issues when I migrated from Anti Virus Version 6 to KAV 2009 even after a reformat... didn't want to work with zone alarm

ended up upgrading to KIS 2009... still have the odd issue but with a 3 user licence, the Vista machines appear to be fine so far...

Kaspersky 2010 will become the 'norm' for Kaspersky. Also, when you purchase Kaspersky, you're actually paying for a 'License'.
This means you can use the newest version of your Software, as long as you have a valid license. Thus, everyone who isn't on business related Kaspersky products, will be moving 2010 at some point or another.

Well, if that's the official line, that's great. I guess the current offer is more for a field test of the release then? Hope that's not taken in the wrong way. I think it's OK, and gives people a choice to try the latest thing.

I'd probably think of it more as a staggered release. Like releasing in different countries at different times, but releasing to groups of the australian/new zealand public instead

3,400 registered members, a handful of problems.
The issue above sounds as though you haven't updated the software, so it has no databases to use for malware protection.

Kaspersky Internet Security incorporates all the features of Anti-Virus.
You can't run both products at once, as they will try and override one another.

Does your speed return if you disable Kaspersky?
If it does, you could try a Settings Restore (small restore link on the settings window)

If you install over the top of 2009, you shouldn't need your activation code, but it is better to keep it handy just in case you run into any issues.
If you do, you simply un-install the program completely, then install 2010 from scratch.

Welcome.
For the best possible results, having your Activation code means you can install Kaspersky 2010 onto your system as a stand alone rather than an upgrade.
If you do not have it, you can install Kaspersky 2010 over the top of your previous version of Kaspersky to force the license data to merge. You could also attempt 'uninstalling' 2009/7.0 but choosing to save the license data.

I am using Windows XP on a Notebook which is networked to a PC running Windows 7 (no problems with the network up until this incident).
I have resolved a peculiar problem with the latest version of Internet Security Suite 9.0.0.736 that you might be interested in. The instalation terminated with 'Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2010 9.0.0.736\Australian\kis.en.msi'
I could only find reference to this message in the knowledge base refering to the Antivirus version 6 software. I uninstalled the previous version (9.0.0.463) and rebooted. On coming back up a message appeared saying that Windows had installed new hardware but did not say what hardware. I hadn't installed anything for a couple of weeks so the message was unhelpful. I rebooted as suggested and then lost the network (both wired and wireless).
I delved down the Documents and Settings path and found a kis.au.msi file. I noticed a Setup file in the same folder, so ran it after changing the file name to kis.en.msi. The setup looked for kis.au.msi so of course, failed. I renamed the file kis.en.msi and reran the setup. It started ok but then stalled because it could not find kis.au.msi! I copied the file so that there was both a kis.au.msi file and a kis.en.msi file. I reran the setup and it installed ok, taking its choice from the Aussi and English files as needed.
So there you have it, I have resolved the problem but am unsure as to why it occurred. Should I not be using an Aussie version of the program? What will happen for the next upgrade? Still don't know why the network failed or what the hardware installation was, will have to live with that. Perhaps somebody knows how to find what the latest Windows hardware installation was?
I'm more concerned with the next upgrade which hopefully will not give me the same problem. I have upgrade before without any problems and the Windows 7 (64 bit) upgrade ran ok.

This is a known issue, whereby the installed software was the English version.
Runing the new AU version over the top causes this error.
Resolve:
Just un-install the old version
(You can save the settings and license etc)
Reboot
Install the new build.
The 2 installers are using a different location for the LOC files, which causes the error.
No biggie, just a bug the team should not have allowed out in a public release.

Thank you. Yes that was my intention, however after uninstalling the old version and rebooting, Windows was asking me to reboot again for some new hardware installation (not sure what). After that reboot, I lost the network between my PC and the Notebook and could only recover it by doing a system restore which brought back the removed KIS! Which is the reason I made two copies (au and en).
Another topic and for your information: I have an address book program (Beiley Handy Address Book) which was taking 35 seconds to close down on Windows 7 and 10 seconds on my XP laptop. The cause turned out to be KIS2010. I repaired KIS on both computers and Handy Address Book shuts down fine now. During the repair, the process faltered on both machines when copying a driver file klis.? It found a newer copy already installed, so I clicked 'No' to not overwrite the newer file. Otherwise the repair went smoothly. I thought you might be interested as other programs may be similarly affected. Apparently the close down delay was while the program was writing to the registry.
norwegian
Nov 30 2009, 08:17 PM
The file would have been Klif, or Klim5 I'd say. Both are KIS drivers.
If you see any other problems, try turning off PDM, shutting down KIS and turning it all back on.
Other than that, and for all the time I've tested, if ever you do see problems, a repair install quite often fixes it, similar to installing it twice.
Somehow, the program will always work better the second time. I used to chuckle about having to do everything twice
with KIS to allow it to settle, but somehow it always ends up falling on the installer itself that causes the headaches most people see.
(Outside of the standard 3rd party driver conflicts all programs out there have once in a while).
Glad things are fixed though.

What version of the program are you using? A little more info would help, however I'll answer with the first thing I'd try.
When you open up the settings for KIS/KAV the 'update' function has a few settings.
See the picture, the red circles donate the selections you pick.
Select a region, then apply by 'ok' till all windows shut, then ask for it to update, does this fix it?
Then there is also the defined list of update servers to also work from, see -
http://support.kaspersky.com/kis2009/updater?qid=193238779These links can be copy and pasted when using the 'add' function.
the only difference then, is to move it to the top of the list, tick the box for it, and remove the tick for 'Kaspersky's update servers'
Does any of the above work?
If not, there is also a repair function in the installer to reset/reload all the rules/drivers.
Pinging the update server to see how the connection responds
A little more info would help before we carry on with other options at debugging your problem though.

You can get someone else to download it, or download it on another system to move to your own.
Use a USB or burn it to a disc.
Not sure why it's timing out.
