What are you trying to update a Kaspersky product or a totally different software.

If its a Kaspersky contact them.
If its the another software contact them.

Sounds logical, lol unsure.gif

lol... to be a little bit more helpful though, lets go through a couple of senarios, with some basic advice with each one.

1. You have Kaspersky and have installed other software , which you cannot update.

if not an issue with the software itself, most likely your firewall...
try putting an exception in for the program that can't update.
as there's a good chance that it could be an issue with the software, as suggested before, try contacting vendor.

2. You just got Kaspersky and cannot update it.

Basic thing here, but make sure you're not firewalled/blocked by anything else, other security product, router firewall, etc...
This can sometimes be an incorrect date and time issue, make sure that these are set to the correct current regional time and try reinstalling...

We generally need more info here however... the more info you give to us, the more we can give to you wink.gif

hey puppetmaster

again, we need more info, what product kis 2009? 2010? what makes you think you can't update? an error message? if so can you post it?

if you're not having any luck with what's suggested here, the best thing you can do in this situation is call kaspersky's technical support line, as they can go through the issue with you, tell you what to look for, and generally help you resolve it on the spot.

What is your Computers "Date" at the moment.
In Windows XP you can double-click the computers Digital Time.
In Vista/7 its a single click on the computers Digital Time.

Can you open your Reports -> Detailed Reports
Choose My Update Centre from the drop down list in the top left
Choose Save from the top right, save the text file and attach to your reply.
benevelence
Try setting your preffered DNS settings to 198.142.0.51

Aaron, can you please provide the "Update Date" from your My Update Center module.
It should either be listed at the top or next to the Anti-Malware Database.

Hi. Not to bright with computers but I have Vista and I went to Unistall/ change program. Clicking on Kaspersky program, I went to repair and followed prompts. You will get to a prompt to update, and my Kaspersky is working again

hey mate sorry for the late reply
any way this might help

Sorry about the late reply mate. Been a little caught up.

The date in your screenshot seems correct. That is, it is the same date as the current (your post at the time).
This leads me to believe your computers DATE/TIME is incorrect.

It may have had a problem with the Net Server update or someone may have changed it while looking at future dates.
Swing it back to the date it is today and the product should be happy again.

Hmm. I would almost assume you are not on the internet.

Do this for me please.

Hold Ctrl + R
Type cmd hit enter
type: ping ftp.kaspersky.com and hit enter

Tell me the result.

For some reason, the address resolved locally to a 1.2 address.
You could try changing your DNS address, this is the Optus one: 203.2.75.132
Check your Host file (doubt this)

Are you able to go to http://www.kaspersky.com

So what fixed it Harry? was it something you did or something that may of have got corrected at Kaspersky or Optus? This sounds very similar to the grief I have experienced lately. The internet works fine except the updater fails to talk to the Kaspersky servers.

By chance, did you get an email from Optus saying they will update the firmware on your modem?

Perhaps it is Optus? I have problems today after restoring to an older state and cannot update, my DATE/TIME is correct and I pinged the address above and had no packet loss.

Currently I am trying to repair the kaspersky program to see if it got mucked up because of the restoration or because the program I did the restoration for (I wanted to remove all of it's changes) screwed up something. Anyways I need to restart I will add another reply when I come back.

***EDIT: It now works fine after repairing and I am updating successfully. Hope this helps others.
